Privacy notice

1. Purpose of this notice

This notice explains how FindCarGarages processes personal information as a responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. What we collect

Motorists: the name, email address, phone number and message you provide when you send an enquiry, request quotes, leave a review or contact us.

Garage owners: your name, business contact details, trading address, accreditation numbers and, if you subscribe, billing details held by our payment processor.

Everyone: technical information such as pages viewed and approximate location derived from your device, used to run and improve the site.

3. Why we process it

To pass your enquiry or quote request to the garages you choose, to publish moderated reviews, to operate accounts and subscriptions, to prevent abuse and fraud, to answer support requests, and to comply with the law.

4. Who we share it with

Garages you contact receive the details of your enquiry so they can reply. We also use service providers for hosting, database, email delivery and payments. They process information on our instruction only.

We do not sell personal information.

5. How long we keep it

Enquiries and quote requests are kept for 24 months so that disputes can be resolved. Account and listing records are kept while the account is active and for five years after closure where required for tax and legal purposes. Published reviews remain until removed by you or by us.

6. Security

Data is stored on managed infrastructure with encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security on the database. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information.

7. Your rights

You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, or withdraw consent to marketing at any time. Email info@findcargarages.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable period.

8. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies and local storage entries to keep you signed in and to remember your theme preference. We do not use advertising cookies.
